Giving Thanks...

I thank God for being a part of this ministry and for giving us the opportunity to expand our Prayer Ministry to touch the lives of people in the States and abroad.

We have been in Prayer Ministry for some time and I believe that we have the framework to reach out, to bring fellowship to the Body of Christ.

Invitation...

On behalf of St. James Ministries, I invite you to worship and fellowship with us. We look forward to seeing you in the near future. Pray for this ministry.

God Bless You!

Pastor James Williams

St. James Ministries

Welcome...

Greetings from Pastor James Williams, Senior Pastor of St. James Ministries Church of God in Christ.  St. James Ministries is a small, unique ministry that I believe God is calling into a broader capacity, especially in the area of prayer.

Elder James Williams, Sr. is a native of Round Pawn, Arkansas.  He was educated in the Moriston Public School System in Missouri.  He later moved to Chicago, Illinois and united with the Tabernacle of God Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Ocie Booker, who now serves as the Jurisdictional Bishop of Eastern Illinois, under the auspices of the Church of God in Christ, Incorporated in Memphis, Tennessee.

Elder Williams transferred to New Orleans, Louisiana with his job in September 1982 and he was joined by his wife, Missionary Nellie Williams, and their three children (Tanya, Jason and James, Jr.) three months later.  In 1983 they joined St. James Ministries Church of God in Christ (formerly St. James Church of God in Christ) under the leadership of the late Elder W.B. Foster, Founding Pastor.  Elder Williams served as one of the armour bearers for Elder Foster during his ailing years.

Chosen

Elder James Williams, Sr.

In October 2000, God blessed Elder James Williams to become the pastor of St. James Ministries Church of God in Christ.  Pastor Williams is an anointed preacher and teacher.  He loves the Word of God and he is also a man after God’s own heart.  Pastor Williams lays before the Lord daily in fervent prayer for His people.  He teaches that prayer is an essential part of a Christian’s life in his/her walk with the Lord.  It is not uncommon to find Pastor Williams in the church praying at 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning.  In the year 2000, he started the “5 AM Prayer” group that meets every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for 45 minutes.  He is often called upon for intercessory prayer for church members and their family and friends.  Pastor Williams is a friendly man who has crossed denominational lines to fellowship with other churches in the Shrewsbury Community of Old Jefferson where St. James Ministries is located.

Following the evacuation for Hurricane Gustav, the Lord laid it upon Pastor Williams’ heart to start a Prayer Line Ministry.  In pursuit of that mission, St. James Ministries is grateful for the services the Missionaries of Prayer provide for Christians who need an avenue to promote prayer throughout the nation.  The “Prayer Line Ministry” is slated to begin on Monday, February 2, 2009, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 AM to 7 AM Central Time.  The Prayer Line phone number is 1-712-451-6100 and the pass code is 402039#.  This is a long distance call and the caller must pay applicable long distance charges, unless the caller has unlimited long distance phone service or free night and weekend phone service.  The Prayer Line will be open to everybody.

SERVICES

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
